What Is Trichology?
Trichology is the scientific study of disorders of the hair and scalp. It was founded and established in London England in 1902.
When Should You See A Trichologist?
You should see a Trichologist when you have problems with hair breakage, hair loss, or other disorders concerning your scalp. See a Trichologist if you have the following: Sudden excessive hair loss from the scalp, severe breakage after receiving a chemical service, a bald patch which has suddenly appeared or itching and excessive scaling from the scalp. Dandruff, psoriasis, seborrhea, excessive hair loss and baldness are problems from which many people suffer and about which they would like professional advice and, where possible, treatment.
What is the difference between a Trichologist and Dermatologist?
Trichologist take a more holistic approach when trying to treat hair loss and scalp disorders. Trichologist do this by trying to find out the underlying cause of the condition and have to have a thorough understanding of the body systems and nutrition. Dermatologist focus more on the treating the symptom of the hair loss, and sometimes cannot pin point what is causing the hair loss.
